From the title of this post, you may be wondering why I waited so long to give him his first blessing. But, to clear up possible confusion, I say that this was the first blessing he performed himself.
Jake got hurt and was crying, which is fairly typical with three boys in the house (excluding myself). Sunni came to the scene in time to witness Josh's hands placed upon Jake's head. Josh's eyes were closed and he was mouthing a silent prayer. In the meantime, Jake had stopped crying and was looking somewhat confused. Upon further examination, it was discovered that Josh had anointed Jake's head with a liberal application of hand lotion.
Sometimes I wonder why my children are so spiritually advanced. I think it's because I'm a seminary teacher and am gone most days so as not to interfere with Sunni's proper raising of the kids. I wonder if he sealed the anointing.
