Officials: Obama to reverse abortion policy January 23rd, 2009 @ 8:22am By LIZ SIDOTI and MATTHEW LEE Associated Press Writers WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that promote or perform abortions, officials told The Associated Press on Friday. The move, long expected in the Democratic president's first week in office, will be welcomed by liberals and criticized by abortion rights foes. The policy bans U.S. taxpayer money, usually in the form of U.S. Agency for International Development funds, from going to international family planning groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion. It is also known as the "global gag rule," because it prohibits taxpayer funding for groups that even talk about abortion if there is an unplanned pregnancy. Also known as the "Mexico City policy," it has been reinstated and then reversed by Republican and Democratic presidents since GOP President Ronald Reagan established it in 1984. President Bill Clinton ended the ban in 1993, but President George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001 as one of his first acts in office. The Democratic official and senior U.S. official who disclosed the plans did so on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to pre-empt Obama's announcement. Obama was expected to sign the executive order at a low-key event, one day after the 36th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.

I am officially pissed.
I don't like to contribute to fighting on the blogs or anything, these issues always seem to go that way. But I would like to state that I upset, scared, and disappointed in our new President.
This topic is so emotionally charged. I am heart sick by this decision. Abortion as mass birth control is one of the more heinous practices of the world.
Unfortunately, I am not surprised to have this ban justified for the sake of political correctness nor am I surprised to hear politicians proclaim they do so for the sake of the health and safety of women.
If only the health and safety of unborn children, who in most cases are simply unwanted, considered as carefully as that of women and men who created them.

This is our great President, whom everone is cheering for. I expected nothing less from him. -Sherrie
I'm irritated, and disgusted. Surely our tax dollars can go to better use than destroying innocent life. It's sad enough that it is legal to kill your own child but why should everyone have to pay for it...I feel like vomiting. First the terrorist prison is closed, now abortion is not only made legal, but funded as well. What's next, legalized gay marriage, taking money from the wealthy and giving it to people who aren't willing to work themselves? Thank you for posting this Sunni, I'm glad that there are others who share our views too.

So, is this the "change" Obama was talking about?

One day back in pre-election, Mtn. View Elem. had a mock election. Kenadee's 2nd grade class was informed about each of the canidates by thier teacher. A few facts were given about each. Then, the teacher let the students voice their oppinions about them. (aka: all the crap they had heard come out of their parents mouths).
Kenadee came home with some intersting information. She said,
"I really hope Obama does Not win because he lets Parents Kill their Babies!"
"Brenlee told me that."
Hence, we had the unpleasant opportunity to teach our 7 year old all about Abortion, politics & "rights"...right or wrong. Oh, & to explain to Cyd, why Kenadee had also spread that information to Chloe on the bus ride home!
These days, (even after much explaining) she's determined that our country is gong to severely suffer due to all the people who are Now allowed to kill thier babies!
What is this world coming to?
